8912 – Understanding Dhamma Better in the New Year
Ajahn Buddhadāsa reminds us that when we talk about ‘New Year,’ it should be a better one than last year! What is the point of celebrating a new year if there will be nothing different from the old one? He explains how to celebrate the year which will be better than the old one by learning more and doing better than last year. This can be done by understanding paṭiccasamuppāda (dependent co-origination) and the Triple Gem (Buddha, Dhamma, and Saṅgha). He encourages us to solve problems of the world by applying paṭiccasamuppāda to real life through the practice of ānāpānasati bhāvanā (mindfulness with breathing).
This Dhamma teaching was offered by Tan Ajahn on 31st December 1989.
