Let's All Be Buddhadasas

Let’s All Be Buddhadāsas

Buddhadasa Bhikkhu

Ajahn Buddhadāsa took on the penname Buddhadāsa as an aspiration and calling, to dedicate his life in service of Lord Buddha. Similarly, his brother took the name Dhammadāsa and a close friend took the name Sanghadāsa. All three are chanted in Thai monasteries and homes withing the morning devotional service. They are not intended as personal names. They don’t belong to anyone. We can all share in their noble aspirations.

This article aims to inspire similar dedication in everyone who takes refuge in Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha, in order that the four noble truths become manifest and suffering quenches.
