8604 – [2 of 3] The Things Called ‘Elements’

If all the world’s problems originate in selfishness, how do we rid ourselves of selfishness? Buddhadāsa Bhikkhu tells us that the task starts with understanding the things called ‘elements,’ which include everything in the world. When we understand that elements arise and pass according to the law of nature, then we can see that there is no self to be selfish about. Dukkha will cease and there will be liberation and freedom. By knowing and realizing the elements through our own experience (sanditthiko), we can realize nibbana.
